Easy & Delicious Recipes of Homemade Icereams

Homemade ice cream offers a delightful and satisfying experience that goes beyond simply indulging in a sweet treat. It allows you to experiment with flavors, control the quality of ingredients, & create a personalized dessert that suits your taste. The process of making ice cream at home can be a fun and rewarding activity, bringing family & friends together. Whether enjoyed on a sunny day or as a special dessert, homemade ice cream is a delicious way to savor life's simple pleasures.

Here's a simple & delicious butterscotch ice cream recipe you can try at home:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips (optional, for extra flavor and texture)

Instructions

  1. Make the butterscotch base:

    • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture is smooth and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add cream and milk:

    • Gradually pour in the heavy cream and milk, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves. Heat until the mixture is warm but not boiling.
  3. Prepare the egg mixture:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and thick.
  4. Temper the eggs:

    • Slowly pour about 1/2 cup of the warm butterscotch mixture into the egg yolks while whisking constantly to avoid scrambling. Gradually pour this tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan.
  5. Cook the custard:

    • Continue cooking over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon (around 170-175°F or 77-80°C). Do not let it boil.
  6. Strain and cool:

    • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any lumps. Let it cool to room temperature.
  7. Chill the mixture:

    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to ensure it's thoroughly chilled.
  8. Churn the ice cream:

    • Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you're using butterscotch chips, add them during the last few minutes of churning.Handmade Set of 4 - The Chai Lovers Edit
